The police of Leiding 9A arrested nine minors aged between 12 and 16 in connection with a theft at a recreation centre on the Sophia’s Lustproject in Wanica. The suspects allegedly stole, among other things, outdoor air-conditioning units, lamps and a tin of paint.
The police received a report of the theft at around 3.40 p.m. and went to the recreation centre. At the scene, the security guard reported several items missing. Acting on the guard’s information, nine young people, all living on the Sophia’s Lustproject, were traced. According to police, they confessed to having been involved in the theft.
One of the stolen outdoor air-conditioning units was found in a ditch at the rear of the premises. Two lamps were found at the home address of one of the suspects and subsequently seized.
The nine minors have been detained in the interest of the investigation and placed in the juvenile detention facility Opa Doeli. The case has been transferred to the Juvenile Affairs Department of Opa Doeli, which is continuing the investigation.
