“The auditor’s report states that no financial fraudulent acts were committed,” DNA member Ann Sadi said in parliament on Monday regarding the issue at the Viskeuringsinstituut (Fish Inspection Institute), in which the Raad van Toezicht (RVT, Supervisory Board) accused then director Juliette Colli-Wongsoredjo of financial irregularities, following which she submitted her resignation.

Sadi said that there was clearly character assassination by the members of the RVT against the former director. According to her, Colli-Wongsoredjo carried out her duties properly and knew her responsibilities well. “She gave her entire life to the institute.” Sadi demanded that the government act as soon as possible so that Colli-Wongsoredjo’s name can be cleared.

Colli-Wongsoredjo felt belittled and hurt by the way she was treated by the members of the RVT. As a result, she submitted her resignation. She was accused of withholding certain matters, but according to her, she was always willing to cooperate and explain matters so that the new board could do its work properly.

The RVT further claimed that transfers had been made from the institute’s bank account to private accounts. The former director explained that transfers had indeed been made to private accounts, all of which belong to local entrepreneurs or employees. She stressed that the institute has income in US dollars, but salaries and other local expenses are paid in SRD. At the end of each month, a budget is drawn up for the SRD that will be needed.

US dollars are exchanged for SRD at HJ de Vries Cambio. If some employees wanted to buy US dollars for certain matters, that was also possible. All of this was done through bank transfers, so that everything was transparent and traceable. “This is how things have been done for years.” The former board members and the auditors also had no problems with it.
