The concrete bridge on Martin Luther Kingweg, over Para Creek, will be temporarily closed to all traffic. The closure is due to scheduled maintenance work on the bridge.

The closure will take effect on Monday, June 22, 2026, at 9:00 AM and will last until Sunday, June 28, 2026, at 6:00 PM. During this period, road users will not be able to use the bridge.

A detour has been established for traffic via Dwarkaweg, Sir Winston Churchillweg, and Mahadjan Adhinweg. Heavy transport must use the Bouterse Highway during the closure period.

According to the commissariat, Meursweg is strictly prohibited for heavy transport. This was announced on behalf of the District Commissioner of Para, Mr. Patrick Kensenhuis.

District Commissioner Ernesto R. Muller of Wanica South-East urgently appeals to all road users to strictly follow the instructions of the police and the posted traffic signs. According to the commissariat, this is necessary for the safety of all road users and for the smooth execution of the work.
