Human remains were found in the vicinity of the village of Pokigron, in the district of Sipaliwini, on Saturday, 31 October 2026. They are believed to be the remains of a man who has been reported missing since June this year.
According to preliminary information, there is a suspicion that the remains found belong to the missing man. However, his identity has not yet been officially established.
The police’s Forensische Opsporing (FO) (Forensic Investigation Department) has been called in to conduct an investigation. Efforts will be made to establish the identity of the deceased and clarify the circumstances under which the person died.
