Kangoeroe High officially opened a new building for the upper years of its vwo programme on Wednesday, 7 October. The school complex at Tweede Rijweg 49 in Paramaribo has capacity for 600 students and includes 13 classrooms and practical rooms.
With the new construction, the school is expanding its educational capacity. According to Stichting Kangoeroe Community School (KCS), of which Kangoeroe High is part, the building offers specialised spaces, modern educational facilities and a better layout for education.
The opening took place in the presence of staff, management, board members and other invited guests. The programme included speeches by the founders and the director, followed by a tour of the building.
Jolanda Sweet, founder of Kangoeroe Community School, describes the opening as an important moment for the school. The new location is intended to support the further development of education and provide students with space to prepare for their further studies.
Kangoeroe High was founded in October 2019. The vwo school is part of KCS, which also provides childcare, primary education and after-school care in Paramaribo.
