The Bikers Unit of Regio Midden seized 24 e-bikes on Friday evening following an illegal street race on Schotelweg in Lelydorp. The electric bicycles were ridden by minors. According to the police, the youngest person involved was only 10 years old.

The police took action after receiving a report that a group of youths were racing at high speed on e-bikes. According to the police, their driving behaviour endangered not only themselves but also other road users.

When the bikers attempted to intervene, the youths tried to speed away. The police managed to box them in and stop them near Lelydorperweg.

The 24 e-bikes were transported by a towing company to an impound location.

The police expressed concern about the young age of those involved. Parents and guardians are urgently called upon to take responsibility and not allow minor children to participate in illegal street races.
