The 60-year-old S.I. sustained a gunshot wound to his abdomen on Tuesday, September 1, during a shooting incident in the vicinity of Ojamastraat in the Flora ressort. The shooter is still at large.
The police went to the location following a report and found the injured man there. S.I. stated that an unknown man had shot at him from a passing vehicle.
The victim was taken by ambulance to the Emergency Department of the Academisch Ziekenhuis Paramaribo for medical treatment.
The identity of the shooter and the motive for the shooting are still unknown. The police are continuing the investigation and working to trace and arrest the suspect.
