“One must take into account what kind of films are shown during the morning hours,” DNA member Steven Reyme said on Monday in parliament about television stations also having to behave responsibly.
Reyme said that during the holiday period, children have access to the fifty television stations. He asked the government to appeal to the management of the television stations to take into account what type of films are shown during the morning hours, when most parents are not at home. “Children are heavily exposed to violence and to images they should not see.” The management of the television stations must ensure that at least child-friendly programmes are broadcast during the morning hours.
He stated that there is no legislation on social media, so parents must exercise control themselves, but the television stations must be monitored. “Sometimes you walk past and see children watching certain things on television at a certain time, and then you wonder whether that is how it should be,” Reyme concluded.
