Vitesse’s attack is receiving a new boost. On Thursday afternoon, the Arnhem club announced that Jeredy Hilterman will strengthen its ranks. The Surinamese international has signed a contract until the end of the season at the Gelredome.
With Hilterman’s arrival, coach Rüdiger Rehm gains some more experience up front. The 25-year-old Aymen Sellouf was the oldest attacker in the Arnhem club’s squad. Hilterman, who has already played 214 matches in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie, is expected to guide the younger players. In the Netherlands, he previously played for (Jong) FC Utrecht, Willem II, NAC Breda, Cambuur, FC Emmen and Almere City. He had been without a club since this summer following his departure from Germany’s Arminia Bielefeld.
Hilterman is looking forward to it: “Vitesse is a big club with an enormous fan base. I am happy to be back in the Netherlands and am very much looking forward to getting started here and contributing to the team. I know the competition well and know what is required. Now I want to join up as soon as possible and show myself again.”
His new coach, Rehm, is also pleased with the reinforcement. “We know Jeredy’s qualities and know what he has shown in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie. His statistics speak for themselves. At the same time, he has had a difficult period, during which he has not been able to play much due to an injury. We want to help him gradually reach his highest level again. If he gets there, I am convinced that he can be of great value to us.”
