DNA member Jogi: “Style of leadership leads to conflicts in parliament”

Jogi web DNA member Mahinder Jogi states that the current leadership of parliamentary speaker Ashwin Adhin is causing conflicts and obstacles within parliament, seriously hampering its work.

“The way in which the parliament is being led leads to conflicts,” DNA member Mahinder Jogi recently said on To The Point about the leadership capabilities of parliamentary chairman Ashwin Adhin.

The parliamentarian reviewed the parliamentary year and concluded that there have been a great many clashes and escalations between the coalition and the opposition, and even within the coalition. Because the way leadership is being provided is not correct. “It can be much better.”

He stated that much still needs to be done regarding the way the parliament is led. According to him, there must be a major change in the way the parliament is led. “The current way of leading creates too many problems in parliament that should not exist, and this considerably hampers the work.”

Jogi noted that Adhin more often takes part in the debates from the chairman’s seat, while this is not permitted under the rules of procedure. The chairman should only preside over and guide the meeting.

According to him, this was not the case with previous parliamentary chairmen. “They then left the chairman’s seat and delivered their arguments from the floor.”

He further stated that this conduct has even caused coalition members to clash more often with the DNA chairman. “Members are more often curtailed when they want to ask a question.” According to him, both opposition and coalition members are more often obstructed when making a point during a point of order. “So the way leadership is provided creates too many problems.”
