Surinam Airways (SLM) has engaged airline World Atlantic to bring more stability and predictability to its regional flight operations. The collaboration started on Thursday, 3 September, with flight PY422 on the Miami–Georgetown–Paramaribo route.
The deployment of World Atlantic follows operational problems that arose after the SLM aircraft PZ-TCX was taken out of service in Georgetown. To continue regional flights, the airline temporarily called on aviation partner Global X.
Despite that support, passengers faced delays and disruptions to the regional flight schedule. SLM acknowledges that this situation has caused considerable inconvenience and uncertainty and apologises to the affected travellers.
More reliable implementation of flight schedule
The airline expects that the collaboration with World Atlantic will result in more reliable and consistent operation of regional flights. This should offer passengers a better travel experience and make daily operations more predictable.
The PZ-TCV aircraft will remain available until 12 September for already scheduled charter flights. In exceptional cases, the aircraft may also be deployed to support regular scheduled flights.
SLM is also continuing to work on a structural solution to bring the PZ-TCX aircraft back into operation. The airline says it remains committed to improving its operational performance, reliability and punctuality.
